About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Product Engineer supporting the Consumer Business Group, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Supporting the development and maintenance of existing & new products within the Home Environment & Consumer Safety portfolios. Implementing programs to improve quality, reduce costs, and support new NPI programs for Home Environment & Consumer Safety products. Leading, alongside cross functional team, key Change Management Projects (CMP) for existing products and product line extensions. Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to drive implementation and launch. Verify and document product specifications for new and existing products via claim substantiation process in PLM. Conducting product claims testing and document test results via claim substantiation process Interacting closely with key internal and external manufacturers and suppliers to deliver high-quality retail products Interfacing with cross-functional team members (marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, technical service, quality, regulatory, etc.) to ensure successful program delivery. Determining root cause of product quality issues and implementing corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of manufacturing and/or laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) & Change Management Projects (CMP).
  • Demonstrated success in effectively leading and contributing to cross functional teams.
  • Strong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute product verification/claim substantiation test plans, develop & validate test methods and properly document test results.
  • Proficiency in design of experiments and other statistical methods & tools.
  • Experience in a regulated industry.
  • Familiar with PLM system for: RM substitutions (and the 3M change management process), NPI process, SKU creation, BOM creation, PFMEA, DFMEA, HOQ, test method development.
