About The Position

CloudLinux is a global remote-first company driven by principles of doing the right thing, prioritizing employees, being remote-first, and delivering high-volume, low-cost Linux infrastructure and security products. The company aims to help businesses increase operational efficiency. The team supports each other to ensure collective success. CloudLinux's product portfolio includes CloudLinux OS, Imunify360, and other infrastructure and security solutions utilized by hosting providers, enterprises, and Linux-based businesses globally. This role involves taking absolute, end-to-end ownership of a specific product domain, platform component, or business-critical technical area, acting as the technical and operational driver. The position emphasizes an AI-first approach to achieve smart scaling through lean efficiency, rather than relying on extensive resources. The Product Engineer will build, own the roadmap, and orchestrate delivery.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong engineering fundamentals applicable across various languages, frameworks, and environments.
  • Advanced AI usage: Regular use of LLM-based tools for development, debugging, testing, refactoring, or code review, beyond occasional experimentation.
  • Linux and CI/CD experience: Strong Linux fundamentals and experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines or runners.
  • Product-mindset: Ability to translate unclear requirements into a clear technical plan, make trade-offs, and prioritize based on impact.
  • Ownership: Experience shipping projects in high-accountability environments with direct responsibility for the outcome.
  • Clear communication: Professional English, clear status updates, and the ability to explain technical trade-offs to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Domain Orchestration: Take responsibility for a specific part of the platform or product, shaping the technical direction, writing and reviewing production code, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preparing releases, and ensuring area stability in production.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Turn ideas, experiments, or unclear requirements into working solutions, utilizing AI tools to accelerate routine tasks like drafting technical specs, creating tests, refactoring, or planning implementation.
  • Smart Scaling: Identify and lead the resolution of technical bottlenecks in their area, which may involve architectural improvements, infrastructure changes, cloud-related work, or enhanced observability.
  • AI-Agentic Development: Integrate tools like Claude Code or similar assistants into the daily development process for debugging, writing tests, refactoring legacy code, improving documentation, or exploring unfamiliar codebases.
  • Validation & Integrity: Act as an 'Interception Layer' to validate AI outputs, ensuring the domain does not degrade into 'Dark Architecture' or 'AI Slop'.
  • Product & Operational Leadership: Connect product needs with engineering execution by working with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into clear technical plans.
  • Prioritization: Help prioritize work based on impact, risk, and technical complexity, and push back on low-value tasks.
  • Ownership and Execution Focus: Stay closely connected to how work performs in production, assist with incidents, improve monitoring and observability, and reduce unnecessary process overhead.
