About The Position

Executing on new product development projects, from conceptualization to full market launch. Reporting on various projects accordingly and supporting the Product Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field (mechanical, aerospace, chemical, electrical) from accredited program
  • Microsoft Office 365 experience
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret automotive specifications & drawings.
  • Experience coordinating with CAD designers and CAD environment.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, including global teammates.
  • Travel as required, domestically and internationally

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of polyurethane design parameters, tool design & manufacturing
  • Siemens Teamcenter VisMockup experience
  • Automotive interior product expertise
  • Catia experience
  • 3 years experience in product development
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S and Kaizen

Responsibilities

  • Lead all design review activities by coordinating, reviewing and summarizing DFAM reports with APQP team and document feasibility judgments in team feasibility commitment form for each development gate.
  • Review and document validation requirements based on technical packages received from customers, coordinate CAE and physical testing and ensure proper set-ups prior to validation, review results against requirements and get customer agreement on DV/PV documents.
  • Create, review and update DFMEAs, as required, to document failure modes.
  • Document engineering change management of assigned programs by creating, maintaining and freezing accurate engineering bill of materials from engineering drawing, 3D CAD and/or statement of work (SOW) to track changes for the life of the program.
  • Ability to view and perform simple manipulation of 3D data to capture dimensions/measurements to review and verify designs.
  • Coordinate and direct the creation and release of component and assembly drawings ensuring proper dimensioning and tolerancing to meet manufacturing capabilities and customer integration requirements.
  • Document engineering costs and report, as required, engineering spending for assigned programs to support financial reviews.
  • Lead all engineering activities from award to launch including directing the design teams as needed to meet deliverables.
  • Review internal and external eSOWs to identify and understand the program scope, performance requirements/specifications, DV/PV testing requirements, and support the development of ED&D quotes.
  • Support trim engineering team, as required, to develop, troubleshoot, release soft trim components for customer build events throughout the design and launch phases of assigned programs.
  • Help troubleshoot design issues at customer or Woodbridge facilities.
  • Support program managers with tactical timing plans for engineering deliverables.
  • Perform tolerance stack analysis of assemblies and systems to confirm assembly feasibility and repeatability.
  • Effectively communicate engineering requirements/judgements/solutions, program risks, etc. to WFC teammates and leadership as well as selected supplier and customer stakeholders.
  • Review designs for VA/VE opportunities.
  • Coordinating prototypes on the awarded programs.
