This role is for a product engineer who enjoys creating smooth, polished, and delightful consumer apps. You will join a small, fast-moving team where your code will reach millions, your design instincts will shape the user experience, and your ideas will contribute to the future of social networks. You will be joining the team responsible for Bluesky’s flagship app, a multi-platform, open-source social client. Your work will be immediately visible and will directly shape how people experience the future of social media. This role is ideal for someone who loves consumer apps, focusing on interaction details, building polished interfaces, and simplifying complex flows. As part of a small, fast-moving team, you will have the freedom to ship quickly, influence product direction, and push the boundaries of social app experiences.
Requirements
- Strong programming fundamentals and software engineering skills
- Deeply experienced with Typescript (5+ years)
- Shipped React Native apps to iOS, Android, and web
- Care about UI/UX quality and sweat the details
- Worked across the full stack (frontend and backend)
- Built motion-rich interfaces (gestures, animations)
- Intuitive understanding of how people use social apps
- Thrive on small, fast-moving teams where you can own big pieces of work
- Excited to help shape the future of social networking
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working at startups or on social media products
Responsibilities
- Ship new features in a large, mature React Native application used daily by millions
- Debug and fix tricky issues with the help of remote instrumentation and strong problem-solving instincts
- Build and maintain platform-native modules to make the app feel smooth and responsive across iOS, Android, and web
- Collaborate closely with designers and other engineers to refine flows and polish interactions
- Contribute to the open-source ecosystem around Bluesky and the AT Protocol
