About The Position

Simile is changing the way consequential decisions are made by building the first AI simulation of society, populated by generative agents based on real humans. We have pioneered the field of AI-based simulation and are developing a Foundation Model to predict human behavior in any situation, at any scale. We are backed by $100M in funding from leading investors and AI visionaries. As a Product Engineer - Member of Technical Staff, you will be responsible for building the platform that harnesses our core foundation model. This involves designing the infrastructure and interfaces for complex, multi-agent simulations for sophisticated organizations. We seek full-stack engineers who can bridge cutting-edge AI research and production-grade enterprise software. You will design and scale systems enabling customers to orchestrate thousands of generative agents, observe emergent behaviors, and derive actionable insights from simulated societies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience (excluding internships) at tech and product-driven companies.
  • Strong command of TypeScript and React for the frontend.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, or Node.js).
  • A track record of balancing technical excellence with a pragmatic approach to shipping, always keeping the customer’s problem at the center of the solution.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres/MySQL).
  • A solid understanding of distributed systems concepts.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment by navigating loosely defined tasks and managing competing priorities effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Former founder or early startup engineer who has built and scaled a product from scratch.
  • A deep interest in how generative agents and foundation models can be surfaced to users.
  • Experience building systems where reliability, safety, and performance are mission-critical.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development lifecycle for new enterprise products, from initial design and backend services to user-facing components and APIs.
  • Partner closely with product managers, designers, and external customers to translate complex human-behavior simulations into simple, usable interfaces.
  • Build and iterate on systems that drive customer workflows, ensuring they are reliable, performant, and scalable as we model human behavior at a global scale.
  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate in rigorous code reviews to maintain high system quality and safety in production.
  • Balance long-term technical architecture with the need to ship incrementally and learn from real-world usage.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation packages that include base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Equity grants are available for eligible roles, subject to board approval.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Flexible time off policies to support work-life balance.
