McGard LLC is seeking a highly talented and motivated Product Engineer I to join their dynamic team. This role involves developing innovative products within the automotive industry. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME / BSMET) or a related field.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and 2D drawing development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PTC Creo Parametric and Windchill is a plus.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and material and strength analysis.
  • Design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
  • Familiarity with the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) production part approval process (PPAP).

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical issues for designated area of responsibility.
  • Develop new product designs and improve existing product designs.
  • Work closely with sales to ensure proper product direction.
  • Ensure other departments properly support the products.
  • Provide direct support to the customer.
  • Responsible for all aspects of product development including concept development, prototyping, product development, product testing, customer presentation, defining manufacturing process, ensuring successful initial production run, and staying within project budget.
  • Meet time constraints and ensure successful new product launches.
  • Ensure Design Engineers understand design objectives and final designs meet requirements if designs are delegated.
  • Follow the latest Engineering Design Plan for all design projects.
  • Create and maintain detailed product specifications, engineering drawings, and documentation.
  • Stay within design parameters for improvement projects.
  • Design experiments, make product modifications, conduct design verification testing, and make changes to part prints and processes.
  • Support level projects without direct responsibility to customers/market segment, coordinating projects with guidance from Team Lead or higher-level engineers.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including sales, design engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to drive successful product launches and continuous improvement.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required to support projects, manage customer issues, or assist sales.
