About The Position

Working within the Foundation Brakes, Wheel Ends, and Vendor Suspension Group, this role has a direct impact on vehicle performance through the development and specification of brake, wheel end, and suspension components. You will contribute to both current production and new product development programs, designing and integrating systems that support best‑in‑class performance and cost targets. This position partners closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop brake, wheel end, and suspension solutions for steer, drive, and pusher axles. The team’s primary responsibility is the successful integration of supplier components and systems into DTNA vehicles, ensuring optimal performance, durability, and value. Key activities include cross‑functional collaboration, supplier technical engagement, and system‑level development to deliver industry‑leading brake and suspension solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related engineering field and prefer 0-2 years of relevant experience, or 4 years of relevant engineering or technical experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience applying relevant Mechanical Engineering concepts and tools.
  • Demonstrated CAD Experience with preference to Siemens NX.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal & written skills.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skill in team environments
  • Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems
  • Demonstrated strategic foresight, ability to anticipate questions/next steps, and ability to motivate self and others.
  • Experience preparing presentations.
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop vehicle components and systems.
  • Apply Engineering and CAD principles to design vehicles that are safe, reliable, serviceable and competitive.
  • Provide business unit with solutions for problems related to product design or documentation.
  • Analyze and provide creative, technically feasible solutions to problems encountered in validation and production.
  • Promptly resolve plant build issues.
  • Improve competitive market position by keeping abreast of state of the art developments in the truck industry and applying the new knowledge to designs.
  • Interface with suppliers, Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, Marketing, and other departments in the product development and testing phases.
  • Generate and implement ideas to improve the work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality.
  • Development work, problem resolution, NX design, FEA, and design of suspension systems.
  • Apply theoretical principles and engineering techniques in designing a vehicle that is reliable, serviceable, energy efficient, and competitive.
  • Use programming and modeling techniques in conjunction with mathematical analysis.
  • Prioritize assignments and proactively inform management of project issues, delays and risks.
  • Interface with Test, Analysis, Procurement, Manufacturing, Service, Sales, and Marketing personnel as well as a multi-tier supplier base.
  • Support manufacturing plants and field service personnel in resolving issues.
