Product Engineer - Developer Platform

TypeSafe AISan Francisco, CA
Onsite

About The Position

As a full-stack product engineer on our platform team, you will build and own tools on our developer console — the site where developers create accounts, get API keys, and explore our models. You'll make sure that developers can get started, understand what our models can do, and manage their usage. Through awesome interfaces, you'll also help developers discover what's possible with our models. You will be responsible for the front-line experience of developers interacting with our platform. We use TypeScript, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS for our front-end. Some of our backend services are written in Python. We empower developers to use any tooling they find helpful for getting their job done, including Claude Code and Cursor.

Requirements

  • Put developers first — you use APIs yourself, you know what a bad developer experience feels like, and you want developers to succeed
  • Love beautiful interfaces and product — you are thrilled by a good UI that simplifies complex concepts and feels easy to use
  • Show complete ownership — can think about goals on a strategic level and define what needs to happen toward that goal, rather than at the level of tasks or tickets
  • Have shipped software apps end-to-end, including integration with AI/LLMs, and understand their capabilities and limitations
  • Have a teaching mindset — you're excited about helping people understand things, not just building features
  • Are comfortable working across very different problem types, from billing infrastructure to interactive playgrounds to debugging developer issues
  • Are familiar with popular frameworks and tools that can accelerate work (incl coding agents), and stay current on SOTA best practices
  • Have 5+ years of professional software engineering, or equivalent professional expertise

Responsibilities

  • Craft beautiful and intuitive UIs - for the boring stuff and the cool stuff
  • Develop deep understanding of our models' capabilities — including new ones as they ship — and figure out how to convey that to developers through the playground and other interactive examples
  • Build and maintain core platform features that developers rely on every day — account management, API keys, teams, usage dashboards, and billing
  • Make our platform easy to use for both developers and agents
  • Investigate and resolve issues developers encounter on the platform
  • Build internal tools that help us better understand and support our developers
  • Close the loop between developer feedback and the product — work with solutions engineering, product, and marketing to identify friction and ship improvements to the developer experience

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • 100% covered health insurance
  • Daily lunch and dinner
  • Visa sponsorships
  • 401K plans
