About The Position

The company is developing the next generation of financial products with prominent partners like Robinhood, DoorDash, and American Express. This role is for a mid-to-senior backend-leaning Product Engineer on the Product Engineering team, which is responsible for customer-facing products including public APIs, embedded SDKs, and customer management dashboards. The team operates leanly, working closely with Product to maximize customer value. They balance supporting customers, delivering the roadmap, proactively improving the product, and maintaining existing systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and maintaining back-end or full-stack applications, specifically with data modeling, application logic, and API design.
  • Prior experience working at an early-stage startup or small tech company.
  • Deep expertise with modern back-end languages/frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, Django, Rails, Gin).
  • Working experience with modern frontend web frameworks (React, Vue, etc.).
  • Played key implementation roles in projects with multiple teams and engineers.
  • Excited by working closely with customers.
  • Responsibly uses AI on top of fundamental skills, doesn’t replace them.
  • Maintains a high bar for technical quality and continues to level up.

Responsibilities

  • Build our Bill Switch product to help customers drive account primacy by migrating users’ subscription spend to new accounts.
  • Contribute to a new API version that improves contracts and formalizes recent product direction.
  • Firm up and improve our tax product for the upcoming tax season.
  • Clean up legacy code that no longer serves current product direction.
  • Build a new customer dashboard API that aligns with the existing stack and enables future expansion.
  • Build new integrations with banking platform partners and improve existing implementations.
  • Deeply understand customer needs and design systems to solve them.
  • Build, scale, and evolve data models, services, and systems that power our APIs.
  • Design and ship impactful new functionality, focusing on internal and customer-facing back-end APIs.
  • Maintain and improve the Python-based microservice stack.
  • Create and improve tooling, processes, and engineering standards.
  • Mentor engineers and help the team grow.
