About The Position

Medical Mutual is seeking a Product Development Manager to oversee the development and success of product strategies for assigned product lines. This hybrid role, located in Brooklyn, OH, requires three days per week onsite. The Product Manager will manage the entire product lifecycle, from identification and assessment to implementation, including roadmap development and lifecycle management. This subject matter expert will collaborate with internal teams and external customers to gather feedback, develop strategies, create requirements, and participate in implementation. The role drives innovation, growth, and efficiency through cross-functional engagement and monitors product performance, recommending strategies for new products, enhancements, or sunsetting underperforming ones. Key contributions include membership growth, margin improvement, and enhancing customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Health Care Administration or equivalent of training and/or experience
  • 2 years’ experience as a product manager or working closely with product management/development (for Product Development Manager II)
  • 5 years of experience as a product manager (for Senior Product Development Manager)
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Data-driven decision making
  • Ability to work in matrixed environment
  • Strong working knowledge of health insurance products
  • Strong skills in MS Office products including MS teams, Excel and Powerpoint

Responsibilities

  • Develops a clear product vision, strategy and roadmap that aligns with business goals and addresses customer needs, setting product priorities, defining features and outlining timelines.
  • Conducts market research and gathers insights to identify customer needs, preferences and trends that can inform product decisions.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional business partners to obtain relevant market intelligence, stakeholder feedback, product and portfolio performance and regulatory requirements to develop a comprehensive product roadmap.
  • Works with competitive intelligence team to monitor local and national competitor products, positioning, strategies and industry trends.
  • Manages the product lifecycle by monitoring product performance to measure the success of a product, making modifications to improve performance or recommend consolidation/replacement/closure of underperforming products.
  • Leads the development of a business proposal for product portfolio enhancements which identifies the business opportunity, estimated cost and operational impact of the proposed product changes.
  • Works closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop go-to-market strategies, pricing and positioning for the product, including product messaging and supporting the product launch.
  • Develops and delivers sales and broker training on new products or enhancements.
  • Mentors and guides other Product Managers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
