About The Position

Solid Power is seeking a Product Development Intern to join their talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on engineering, chemistry, or a related field.

Requirements

• Enrolled at least in a bachelor’s program in a STEM field.
• Must have experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
• Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in material characterization techniques (XRD, TGA, DSC, rheometry, etc.) is a plus.
• Foundation in statistical design (D.O.E.) with relevant software experience a plus.
• Knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation, performance, and failure modes preferred.
• Experience in testing and validation of Lithium ion/Lithium battery rechargeable cells preferred.
• Experience with Python or Minitab is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with and under the direction of scientists and engineers to run experiments at the lab and production scales.
• Support electrode fabrication by mixing and hand casting electrode slurries.
• Support slurry development by collecting and analyzing rheological data and making recommendations for future iterations.
• Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience.
• Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations.
