About The Position

At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. The Hardware Engineering Team provides engineering design and development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon. The Critical Item Production Readiness (CPR) department is dedicated to ensuring that every product we develop is designed with its entire production lifecycle in mind. By integrating principles of manufacturability, assembly, scalability, and cost management, we aim to achieve production excellence while meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability. CPR is seeking a Product Development Engineer (PDE) to join our team. The PDE section is responsible for internal design activities, providing the expertise that optimizes electronic hardware designs for producibility. The PDE section provides electrical circuit design, strategic procurement relationships, and assembly services through project leadership to achieve cycle time, technology, and cost goals. As a Product Development Engineer (PDE), you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in manufacturability for several programs, with a specific focus on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) product lifecycle. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful production of PCBs and CCAs by influencing critical design decisions during the development cycle. This role directly contributes to the overall affordability, reliability, and efficiency of our manufacturing processes. Utilize your in-depth understanding of PCB or CCA manufacturing processes to guide design teams in making informed decisions regarding bill of material (BOM) component selection, termination finishes, placement, bonding or coating material selection / application, rework methods, industry best practices, explain IPC specs, and the creation of clear drawing notes are a few examples of tasks within the role. PDEs lead and facilitate team meetings, track actions and status, and foster efficient communication between design engineers, supply chain teams, 3rd-party suppliers, and program leadership to ensure alignment of goals and expectations. This is an onsite role in McKinney, Texas
