About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Product Development Engineer to join our team. As a Product Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and launch of automotive components. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred).
Product Development Engineering experience in the automotive industry, including product launch.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, FEA, and PLM software.
Ability to evaluate product concepts and propose solutions.
Knowledge of metal forming and joining processes (aluminum extrusion, hot stamping, cold stamping, welding).
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Willingness to work between Grand Rapids and Holland, MI locations.

Nice To Haves

Experience with PTC Windchill or a similar PLM system preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead the product development process, providing regular project status updates.
Review customer and internal technical requirements, preparing the requirement manual.
Apply General Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles effectively.
Control product feasibility and conduct design-FMEAs.
Investigate tolerances and develop dimensioning concepts.
Plan and supervise prototype builds, tests, and experiments.
Review test specifications and prepare the Design Validation Plan (DVP).
Provide engineering knowledge to identify and resolve design issues.
Support value analysis and develop cost reduction concepts.
Release product drawings and manage engineering changes.
Assist in the technical assessment of suppliers.
Ensure design compliance with internal and external quality standards.
