In this position, the 10 speed Hybrid transmission systems engineer position is responsible for integration into vehicle space. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and owns the product and delivers the cost, quality and vehicle milestone requirements on time. We are responsible for providing exciting customer experience across multiple product lines! The 10R Transmission Team is looking for engineers to help design, validate and launch the future Rear Wheel Hybrid Propulsion Systems. The PD Engineer is responsible for managing product release CAD and BOM structures, including assembly positioning and mass attribute analysis. This role also includes facilitating supplier data integration and developing CAD studies to support and drive design improvements. The PD Engineer is expected to understand and effectively utilize product check-in/check-out processes, version control, data release, and change management within Ford’s PLM ecosystem. The PD Engineer will perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools, including draft angle analysis, undercut detection, minimum bend radius validation for sheet metal, and clearance checks to support manufacturing and machining requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • 2+ years of automotive transmission experience or similar industry.
  • 1+ years of CAD experience.
  • Must be approved to travel globally.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Calibration and vehicle data collection knowledge.
  • Caltools experience preferred; ATI, etc.
  • Emotor, Hybrid, FHEV/PHEV experience preferred.
  • Ford design/release experience preferred.
  • Electrical component or electrical system experience preferred.
  • Hands-on problem solver and strong root cause skills.
  • Independent; self-starter when required.
  • Good communicator and can foster relationships with suppliers.
  • A “be curious” and “continued improvement” mindset.
  • A strong drive to both learn from and teach others.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a product development engineer responsible for 10 speed RWD hybrid propulsion systems and their integration into vehicle spaces.
  • Take ownership of the DV and PV strategies to deliver a best-in -class powertrain system.
  • Take ownership of the component, work hand in hand with specific component engineers.
  • Work as a team to improve part quality and increase the customer experience.
  • Lead teams through vehicle level and transmission level milestones.
  • Lead root cause investigations.
  • Lead testing requirements and execution of system signoff requirements.
  • Work with Ford Powertrain Manufacturing and Ford Vehicle Assembly Plants on manufacturing related improvement actions.
