About The Position

Product Development uses design thinking & user experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services that delight our customers. We bring innovative, exciting, and sustainable ideas to life. We have opportunities around the world for you to contribute to advancements in autonomy, electrification, smart mobility technologies, and more! In this position, the engineer will lead and support design engineering activities from pre-program through launch. This includes developing transmission and axle components to meet powertrain and vehicle attributes including strength, durability, and NVH for current production and future applications. The role involves leading Ford internal and external supplier CPMT (Component Product Management Team) for your components, interfacing with systems engineering, manufacturing plants, and suppliers to meet program objectives for quality, cost, and performance requirements. The engineer will also interface with the CAD/CAE team to deliver optimized designs and identify manufacturing feasibility, create and maintain FMA documents (DFMEA, DVP&R, P-Diagram, Boundary Diagram), oversee prototype and production build delivery and quality, and manage supplier delivery and Ford milestones through Job 1. This includes completing PPAP and production implementation on new programs or changes to existing parts. Post-launch, the role involves collaborating with Purchasing, Cost Estimators and Suppliers to implement cost reductions, performing root cause analysis for warranty and high time in service returns, and assessing Ford plant or supplier change requests. Occasional travel to suppliers or assembly plants may be required.
