Product Development Engineer III

Hellerman Tyton•Milwaukee, WI

About The Position

Under the direction of Product Development Engineering Management, the Product Development Engineer III partners with Sales, Marketing, and customers to design, engineer, and develop innovative, competitive plastic routing and clipping solutions. The role completes projects within defined timetables and aims to avoid design changes after product launch. It evaluates design and product specifications; uses CAD to create concepts, details, assemblies, and production drawings; recommends materials; and creates DVP&Rs and test requests for product verification and validation. The engineer applies working knowledge of injection molding and design for manufacturability, manages engineering tasks for assigned projects, and mentors and reviews other product designers. The role also supports HellermannTyton's quality and EHS certifications by following corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and documentation requirements. The position develops concepts and products of medium to high complexity, including preliminary and detailed CAD models and drawings, design specifications, risk assessments, verification studies, and reports. It supports quotes and proposals, customer interactions, design reviews, manufacturability assessments, tolerance stack-ups, and validation planning. The engineer collaborates with suppliers and Operations to resolve manufacturability, technical, and quality issues, and supports pilot and production activities, product improvements, competitive product evaluations, and department process improvements.
