About The Position

The Product Development Engineer I is an early-to-mid career engineering role responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and evolving DIRECTV for Business entertainment platforms, cloud services, and technology solutions. As part of the Product Engineering organization, you will help modernize next-generation entertainment experiences, develop cloud-native services, build automation solutions, and deliver innovative commercial and hospitality video, advertising, and media technology capabilities that enhance customer experiences and drive business growth. This role provides the opportunity to work across product engineering, platform development, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, advertising technology, and business operations while contributing to scalable solutions that support DIRECTV for Business customers across commercial and hospitality markets nationwide. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
2 – 3 years of experience in Software Engineering, Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or a related technical role developing software applications, cloud services, APIs, automation solutions, or technology integrations.
Experience developing software using one or more programming languages such as Python, Golang, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
Experience with application development, REST APIs, software integration, scripting, automation, and modern software engineering practices.
Working knowledge of cloud computing concepts, Linux operating systems, networking fundamentals, and CI/CD pipelines.
Understanding of Agile software development methodologies, software development lifecycle processes, and modern product engineering practices.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and business teams.
Self-starter with a results-driven mindset who takes ownership of engineering initiatives, demonstrates initiative, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure, including cloud-native application development, cloud automation, and infrastructure automation.
Experience with Terraform, Terragrunt, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), software deployment automation, or related cloud automation tools.
Familiarity with container technologies, Kubernetes, microservices, distributed systems, and modern platform engineering principles.
Experience applying Generative AI, AI-assisted development tools, intelligent automation, or AI-driven productivity solutions to improve software development, operational efficiency, customer experiences, or business workflows.
Experience with video platforms, streaming technologies, media delivery workflows, content distribution systems, or cloud-based video services supporting commercial, hospitality, or consumer entertainment experiences.
Experience with digital advertising, AdTech, Connected TV (CTV), streaming platforms, audience measurement, video monetization, or programmatic advertising technologies.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate, and enhance DIRECTV for Business products, cloud platforms, APIs, and technology solutions that deliver scalable, reliable, and innovative customer experiences.
Build new product capabilities, platform services, automation tools, and technology integrations that support business growth and operational excellence.
Collaborate with Product Management, Software Engineering, Cloud, DevOps, Operations, Ad Sales, Data & Analytics, and Architecture teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Develop technical requirements, solution designs, implementation plans, engineering documentation, and best practices.
Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives, technology evaluations, product launches, and platform modernization efforts.
Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering approaches that improve product capabilities, operational efficiency, and customer experiences.
Take ownership of technical initiatives from concept through deployment, ensuring successful delivery and long-term platform reliability.
Develop, integrate, and enhance DIRECTV Advertising and Ad Sales platform capabilities supporting Connected TV (CTV), streaming, and digital advertising solutions.
Enhance advertising technology capabilities including audience targeting, campaign management, ad delivery, measurement, reporting, analytics, and monetization platforms.
Validate platform enhancements, integrations, and end-to-end advertising workflows to ensure reliability, operational readiness, and successful business outcomes.
Partner with Product Management, Ad Sales, Engineering, and Data teams to deliver scalable advertising technology solutions.
Develop and support cloud-native services and infrastructure powering DIRECTV for Business platforms.
Build automation tools, APIs, and engineering solutions using Python and other modern programming languages to improve developer productivity, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.
Design automation solutions and deployment processes that improve scalability, reliability, software quality, and operational excellence.
Participate in CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), software releases, platform monitoring, observability, security, compliance, and vulnerability remediation initiatives.
Leverage modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development tools and automation techniques, to improve engineering effectiveness.
Partner with Product Management, Software Engineering, Cloud, DevOps, Operations, Ad Sales, Data & Analytics, and external technology partners to deliver scalable technical solutions from concept through production.
Evaluate emerging technologies, validate integrations, and provide technical recommendations that improve platform capabilities, reliability, and customer experiences.
Communicate technical designs, implementation strategies, project status, risks, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
Continuously identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, automation, platform performance, and operational excellence through innovation and modern engineering practices.
