About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer to join our team. This position is ideal for candidates with 3 to 5 years of engineering experience in mining or a similar heavy industry, who are ready to further advance their careers in engineering and product development. In this role, you will take ownership of crusher wear part Chamber Optimization (CHOP) projects for Metso equipment as well as third-party systems. You will report to the Senior Manager, Crusher Wears Global Engineering. This position is mainly located in Brookfield, Wisconsin, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. This position could include up to 20% travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant engineering experience in mining or similar heavy industry required.
  • Proficient in CAD and PDM software, as well as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with metallurgy and mechanical equipment/processes.
  • Demonstrated skill in customer negotiations and identifying technical needs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to liaise across all levels of the organization.
  • Effective written communication for reports, training, and marketing materials.
  • Confident presenter with the ability to engage managers, clients, and customers.
  • Highly organized with strong project management capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D scanning and point cloud analysis (highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of mining operations and the crushing process (highly preferred).
  • Proven background in wear part analysis and design (highly preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with customers on CHOP projects to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Partner with local market teams to collect and analyze field data for product development.
  • Drive innovation in crusher wear parts through hands-on support and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Share your expertise by training Metso colleagues—both formally and informally.
  • Design new components using 3D modeling and 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Take on additional responsibilities that contribute to team and project success.
