About The Position

Callisons is seeking a Product Development Chemist to support oral care and confection flavor development. A successful candidate will have a strong background in organic chemistry, separation science, demonstrated experience in a lab environment, conducting experiments, and analyzing data. This role offers a unique opportunity to perform product deconstruction and formulation to solve flavor challenges in oral care and confection consumer products. This is a hands-on role located at our headquarters in Lacey, WA.

Requirements

• Strong background in organic chemistry
• Strong background in separation science
• Demonstrated experience in a lab environment
• Conducting experiments
• Analyzing data
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or other applied science.

• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or similar scientific curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Create a comprehensive range of oral care and confection base formulas for showcasing Callisons products and matching consumer products.
• Perform deconstruction of consumer products and provide analytical insights to flavorists and product developers.
• Develop and maintain a library of base and flavor ingredients found in oral care and confection products.
• Develop novel methods and techniques to attain complete deconstruction of target products.
• Coordinate product stability testing and reporting.
• Participate in customer demonstrations.
• Collaborate effectively with peer departments to ensure on-time, right first-time project delivery.
• Mentor/develop junior staff.
