About The Position

As a Product Designer in Gensler’s Los Angeles office, you will join our creative studio environment for a full-time position. This role is for a designer of physical products, not a UI/UX position. You will contribute to the design and development of furniture collections, spatial systems, lighting fixtures, and product solutions across a range of market verticals. You will participate in design charrettes and work sessions that help define strategic goals and design directions. You will engage in hands-on collaboration with designers, architects, technical specialists, and fabricators. You will produce concept sketches, 3D models, digital prototypes, and technical drawings. You will build physical mock-ups, material studies, and scale study models. You will research materials, manufacturing methods, ergonomic considerations, and sustainability strategies. You will create compelling presentations, diagrams, and storytelling artifacts that communicate design intent. You will explore emerging technology applications in product and spatial design, including computational design, generative workflows, visualization, and physical prototyping.

Requirements

Completion of your undergraduate study or graduate study in Industrial Design, Environmental Design or similar object - based education platform.
1 – 5 years of relevant product design experience
High proficiency level of Solidworks along with rendering skills (Keyshot preferred)
Experience in NLM AI visualization platforms such as Nano Banana is required.
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign .
Strong skills in 3D modeling, prototyping, and material exploration .
Ability to create or interpret technical drawings, fabrication details, and assembly diagrams.

Nice To Haves

Hands-on skills in model making, digital fabrication (CNC, laser cutting), or 3D printing are a plus.
Curiosity about emerging technologies, including: generative AI and computational processes, XR/VR/AR for product visualization, parametric design tools, and material innovation and sustainable fabrication methods.
Demonstrated leadership experience in school or community environments.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication abilities.
Strong desire to conduct research both verbally and in writing.
