About The Position

The Product Designer contributes to a collaborative environment where usable, viable, and feasible solutions are developed to meet the business needs of customers. This role designs for data-rich healthcare software, balances hands-on design work with active contribution to our shared design system, and brings curiosity about AI-assisted design workflows to improve the quality and speed of that work.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in UX design or related field.
  • Proficient in user experience design principles and methods.
  • Familiarity with design systems and scalable UX patterns.
  • Proficiency in graphic design.
  • Familiarity with agile development principles.
  • Eye for aesthetic design and customer appeal, with an interest in accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Proficiency in Figma; familiarity with FigmaMake, Cursor, and Claude a plus.
  • Experience designing enterprise software, SaaS platforms, or data-rich applications; healthcare or other regulated-industry experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.
  • Collaborating with peers across teams to advance UX design practice.
  • Working from a vision instead of being solely task-oriented.
  • Managing work commitments across multiple teams and projects by understanding underlying business priorities.
  • Planning and conducting user research activities (surveys, interviews, usability studies, analytics reporting, pilot testing, etc.) to guide product design and ongoing improvements; documenting findings.
  • Creating mockups, prototypes, and workflow diagrams as needed; ensuring designs align with established patterns, user validation, and research.
  • Improving existing products and functionality to create a better user experience; updating processes and workflows to accommodate changing business needs.
  • Reflecting our design system in your work, contributing improvements (components, tokens, documentation), and developing reusable components for sharing across the organization.
  • Using AI tools to accelerate design work and improve quality; staying curious about emerging technologies and where they fit into the design process.
  • Leveraging technical experience to communicate product needs to the development team; questioning and challenging development and QA resources to facilitate constructive brainstorming and solution design.
  • Working with distributed teams during development and QA to provide guidance and ensure UX specifications are met; partnering with engineers to clarify design intent and adjust designs when constraints arise.
  • Participating actively in design critique and reviews, and being available as a resource to other designers.
  • Presenting designs and receiving feedback constructively; revising designs based on input from users, teammates, stakeholders, and engineering partners.
  • Delivering consistent, clear, and timely communication (written and verbal) to project stakeholders.
