Product Designer

SydecarNew York, NY
$140,000 - $150,000

About The Position

Sydecar is seeking a Product Designer to take ownership of the end-to-end design of features and experiences as the company scales its product. This role requires a high degree of ownership and execution, focusing on building strong design fundamentals. The designer will be responsible for taking features from problem framing through to a shipped experience, working within an established design system, and collaborating closely with product, engineering, and stakeholders. The product operates in a regulated environment, serving a diverse customer base including first-time investors, deal organizers, and large venture capital firms. Success in this role involves balancing compliance and regulatory constraints with the delivery of a best-in-class, intuitive experience for complex financial workflows.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of product design experience
  • Exceptionally strong hands-on design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX ownership and designs
  • Strong experience designing complex workflows, multi-step processes, or system-heavy products
  • Comfortable working within and extending an existing design system rather than starting from scratch
  • Experience partnering directly with Product, Engineers, and stakeholders to scope, define, and ship features
  • Strong communication skills, and comfortable giving and receiving direct critique
  • Deep experience leading and applying user research to drive strategy and execution
  • Data-informed, with a bias toward shipping and iterating

Nice To Haves

  • Curiosity about fintech, regulated industries, or complex/system-heavy products (prior experience a plus, not required)

Responsibilities

  • Own features end-to-end
  • Own UX tradeoffs within features and proactively flag scope issues to the Product Manager
  • Personally drive design on high-impact initiatives, from discovery through delivery
  • Simplify complex, regulated workflows into clear, intuitive experiences that build customer trust
  • Maintain a high bar for design quality while operating with startup speed
  • Lead feature-level user research and proactively seek opportunities to engage with customers
  • Partner with Product to test assumptions and validate solutions before and after development
  • Act as a voice of the customer in roadmap and prioritization discussions, as well as on specific initiatives
  • Incorporate qualitative and quantitative data into design decisions
  • Apply and extend Sydecar's design system consistently
  • Design within platform constraints and learn to identify them earlier over time
  • Design systems and flows that support trust, accuracy, and clarity for investors, deal organizers, and internal users
  • Proactively share and validate work with stakeholders following team best practices
  • Adapt to feedback gracefully and provide focused, articulate critique
  • Build direct working relationships with Product and Engineering partners on assigned features
  • Learn core SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) workflows: closing, KYC (Know Your Customer), cap tables
  • Develop a working understanding of how regulatory and compliance constraints influence design decisions
  • Identify opportunities to create more joyful and high-value user experiences
