Product Designer, Intern (Summer 2027)

DoorDash USASan Francisco, CA
$105,400 - $155,000Onsite

About The Position

This 12-week summer internship program is hosted onsite at our San Francisco or New York City offices, with relocation support available. Interns will have the opportunity to join one of our core teams: Consumer, Merchant, Dasher, Ads & Promos, or Customer Experience & Integrity. Based on skills, interests, and business priorities, interns will be paired with a dedicated manager and supported by a community of designers. The role involves driving a real project from early explorations to shipped work, utilizing AI throughout the design process, and collaborating closely with designers, engineers, PMs, and researchers to ensure high-quality implementation. Interns will learn in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment that values curiosity, craft, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in design or tech (e.g. Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Digital Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science, or a technology-related field) with an expected graduation in Fall 2027 or Spring/Summer 2028.
  • Available for a full-time internship over Summer 2027.
  • Portfolio (school, internships, or side projects) that shows strong design fundamentals – visuals, interaction design, and user-centered problem solving.
  • AI is already part of your process, and your portfolio includes at least one case study showing how you applied AI in your work or designed an AI-powered experience.
  • Comfortable using prototypes to communicate and test your ideas, leveraging tools like Figma and AI-driven tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to move quickly.
  • Excited to learn, comfortable making decisions or asking for help, and able to iterate quickly as you incorporate feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a real project from early explorations to polished, shipped work that reaches millions of users.
  • Use AI throughout your process — exploring divergent directions, building high-fidelity prototypes, and pressure-testing ideas — while helping shape how our product becomes smarter, more intuitive, and more human.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, PMs, and researchers to identify opportunities and ensure high-quality implementation.
  • Learn from a dedicated manager and a community of peers in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment that values curiosity, craft, and collaboration.
