Product Designer, Cloud Platforms (Contract)
About The Position
SprintRay makes 3D printing hardware and software used by dental professionals on six continents. Our Cloud product suite is the connective tissue that ties together our user experience: it's where a practice manages cases, builds print jobs, orders treatments, and stores their files. We’re looking for a product designer who will approach that suite with deep understanding and exceptional craft. This is a depth role for someone who feels the compulsive need to understand every nook and cranny of a complex system. SprintRay Cloud is the highest-touch software we make, and decisions here affect everything from devices to mobile apps. If you’ve designed for interlocking enterprise or medical software, this job may be for you. At SprintRay, you’ll join a small design team split between Los Angeles and Hangzhou. You’ll report to the head of software design at our HQ near Atwater Village, and work day-to-day with the PMs who own the cloud suite and the engineering teams who build it. This is a 6-month contract role with the intent to convert to full-time.
Requirements
- 5+ years designing shipped software, with meaningful time on B2B, enterprise, and/or medical products: SaaS, internal tools, admin platforms, or workflow-heavy systems.
- A portfolio that shows how you think through complex systems, not just how you polish them. We'd rather see one gnarly workflow you untangled than ten marketing pages.
- Strong interaction design fundamentals backed by exceptional visual execution in Figma with the ability to think deeply through workflows.
- Comfort with ambiguity and thin briefs. You ask good questions, write things down, and don't wait to be handed a fully-formed spec.
- Clear written and verbal communication with PMs and engineers, including people who communicate very differently than you do.

Nice To Haves
- Experience in healthcare, dental, medical devices, or in the 3D space.
- Experience with software that talks to hardware, or with fleet, device, or IoT management.
- Design system contribution or ownership.
- Prototyping beyond click-throughs, whether in Figma, code, or AI tools.
- Experience designing AI-assisted features inside a workflow product.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design for the Cloud product suite: discovery, flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and the specs engineering builds from.
- Take loose requirements spread across in-person conversations, messages, emails, and feedback sessions, then turn them into a design brief, then a clear design. You'll often be the one making the problem legible.
- Turn data-dense systems into simple, beautiful interfaces and experiences without flattening functionality, across patient management, CAM, treatment ordering, work tracking, and more.
- Work closely with product management and engineering through the build, including the unglamorous edge cases and compromises of tech debt that ask you to bend the design without sacrificing quality.
- Contribute to and push our design system forward, carefully balancing high-craft UI polish with UX needs.
- Run lightweight research with real customers: practice staff, lab managers, and the people inside SprintRay who talk to them every day.
