About The Position

VARITE is looking for a qualified Contract Designer for the Spectrum Android team. This role focuses on native Android design, including motion, touch, and platform conventions. The designer will work within a nearly 300-person product design group, contributing to 's design system, Spectrum, which powers experiences across Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and Experience Cloud. The goal is to ensure Spectrum feels at home on Android, adhering to Material guidelines while maintaining 's identity. The designer will be responsible for designing and refining Spectrum components for Android, collaborating with engineering on scoping and implementation, and contributing to documentation for product teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design experience with significant time spent designing for Android.
• Fluency in Material Design and a clear point of view on when to follow it, when to extend it, and when to diverge.
• Experience designing components and patterns as part of a design system, not just screens or features.
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering partners.
• Familiarity with how Android components are built.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to ramp quickly and work independently within an established system.

Nice To Haves

• Jetpack Compose experience.
• Prior experience contributing to a public or large-scale design system.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards on Android (TalkBack, touch targets, motion preferences).
• Experience designing across multiple platforms (iOS, web) in addition to Android.
• Background working with creative or productivity tools.

Responsibilities

• Designing and refining Spectrum components for Android.
• Balancing Material Design conventions with 's cross-platform design language.
• Working closely with engineering to scope components and refine implementation strategies.
• Crafting specs that translate directly into Jetpack Compose.
• Collaborating with Spectrum designers working on iOS, web, and desktop to align patterns across platforms.
• Contributing to documentation and usage guidance for product teams.
