About The Position

Renewal by Andersen is looking for an accomplished, driven, and collaborative Design Technical Leader on our Research, Development and Innovation team. In this role you will be the Design Lead for a large-scale new product development project and have oversight responsibilities for all design changes on your product line. This leader will be an integral member of the New Product Development team. The purpose of this role is to provide technical leadership and ensure technical rigor of all aspects of mechanical design. This role Leads the design and planning for a large product development project, and overseas the collection, analysis, and reporting on experimental studies and/or new product concepts/ideas. Applies engineering rigor to product designs; ensuring the product will meet performance expectations and delight customers. Shows independent creativity and initiative for business and organizational contributions Leads discussions and decisions on overall project objectives with managers and other functional leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical or aerospace preferred.
  • Experience as a design engineering lead on a cross-functional product development team
  • Strong aptitude for process improvement, problem solving, technical execution, and project management
  • Experience leading the delivery of products from ideation through commercialization using a gated design review process
  • Demonstrated ability with design engineering fundamentals including dimensional engineering, finite element analysis, and tolerance/variation analysis.
  • 10+ years engineering or technical experience
  • CAD experience required

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead activities on technically challenging assignments
  • Lead a small team of design engineers, mentor a broader engineering team.
  • Evaluate and recommend engineering and design solutions
  • Create and present technical analysis and business viability to senior leaders
  • Maintain primary technical communication responsibility, lead tactical discussions, and effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external customers and staff.
