Product Design Lead, AI Growth

Urban Ridge Supplies•New York, NY
•$174,000 - $290,000

About The Position

The Product Design Lead for Growth will shape how customers adopt AI across Rippling, helping administrators and employees trust AI with operational work. The role focuses on designing growth experiences that encourage customers to start with small AI tasks, see results using their company data, and expand their usage over time. Designers at Rippling are product builders who partner with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to define problems and ship experiences that change customer behavior. The design process uses LLMs to clarify problems, AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude Code to refine and prototype experiences, and customer testing through launch. The role owns outcomes in partnership with cross-functional teams and helps raise the standard for growth design across the organization. The position is based in an in-office-oriented environment. Employees who live within a defined radius of a Rippling office are expected, under current policy, to work in the office at least three days per week. The role offers a competitive salary, benefits, and equity.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of end-to-end product design experience shipping complex, high-impact products from concept to launch.
  • A portfolio of shipped work that measurably changed behavior, such as activation, adoption, retention, or conversion, including experiments that failed and what followed.
  • Experience setting growth direction for a whole product area and gaining adoption from teams the role does not manage.
  • Hands-on growth design experience across onboarding, activation, and monetization.
  • Comfort with funnels, cohorts, and experiment design, with the judgment to identify misleading results.
  • Daily use of LLMs and AI prototyping tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Claude Code, whether or not the candidate writes production code.
  • Strong interaction and visual design craft.
  • Clear communication, including explaining test results to people who hoped for a different outcome.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with B2B or AI products, especially products where the buyer and daily user are different people.

Responsibilities

  • Drive design for AI adoption across Rippling, from an administrator's first setup to an employee's daily use.
  • Work with product management and data science to define an activated AI user and guardrail metrics that identify when a gain may harm retention.
  • Build shared growth patterns, including entry points, prompt suggestions, setup flows, and upgrade moments, for use across product teams.
  • Run experiments with product and data partners, interpret results, and flag tests that improve a metric but negatively affect the user experience.
  • Design upgrade and usage-limit experiences that feel fair and are not surprising to customers.
  • Spend time with customers to understand where AI helps them and where they abandon it, and translate findings into domain priorities.
  • Use LLMs to sharpen problems and requirements, and prototype in code with AI tools to test realistic interactions.
  • Raise the bar for growth design across the organization, share learnings including failed tests, and coach designers newer to growth.
