About The Position

As a member of Aaru’s Product Design team, the Product Design Lead helps users make decisions faster. The team designs, builds, and evolves user experiences across every surface of Aaru, serving personas across the technical spectrum and turning cutting-edge research into features used daily by executives and developers. This role is based in New York City and requires working in the office five days per week. Candidates are expected to live in the New York City metropolitan area or be open to relocating.

Requirements

Have released products of your own or previously led product design.
Thrive in ambiguous and novel technical domains.
Value feedback more than conformity.
Be able to defend design choices and explain why they are right.
Use AI tools heavily without outsourcing design judgment or taste to them.
Ship quickly and know when to slow down for polish.
Communicate clearly in writing and in person.
Have the courage to push back and the humility to change your mind.

Nice To Haves

Have built a design system for a platform or developer product.
Have shipped 0-to-1 product surfaces, rather than only iterating on existing products.
Have contributed to open-source or production codebases.

Responsibilities

Identify patterns across user needs and the product to significantly increase the impact of Aaru’s simulation software.
Ship quickly while advancing the platform design system.
Multiply engineering effectiveness by creating high-quality prototypes using agentic workflows.
Experiment with and advance AI-native design workflows.
Help hire designers who raise the bar.
