About The Position

Drive product form, feature, and technologies through detailed engineering analysis. Design, own, and define mechanical components and assembly schemes. Analyze static and dynamic structures to quantify device performance. Participate in the development/scaling of new manufacturing and assembly processes with external vendors. Create predictive models, conduct design of experiments (DOEs), and failure analysis to resolve root cause and implement corrective actions. Assemble early prototypes and travel to factory site to support engineering builds and tackle assembly line problems. Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems. 10% International and domestic travel required. 40 hours/week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technologies, or a related field.
  • Utilizing 3D CAD for the detailed design of complex assemblies used for testing and production
  • Using Siemen’s NX and TeamCenter for technical drafting and drawing to create and communicate design intent and requirements to vendors
  • Utilizing mechanical engineering concepts and equations for developing the requirements for designs and our products, as well as accurate ways to test products and designs
  • Using Design of Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to work with product manufacturing processes to design products that leverage cutting edge manufacturing strategies for high yields and consistent quality
  • Selecting optimal materials using knowledge of engineering material properties (including but not limited to metals, polymers and ceramics) to meet design criteria
  • Utilizing mechanical dynamics to understand reliability requirements and testing for real world stressors on product including drop impact and cyclic loading
  • Using presentation design software to create informative presentations to articulate design problems, showcase solutions and summarize key technical calculations
  • Applying design practices to consolidate requests and proposals into a design proposal
  • Applying engineering practices, including safety factors and tolerance stacks, to create design requirements that satisfy reliability standards
  • Leveraging program management practices, including gaant charts resource planning, to create validation plans for new designs
