This is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the aforementioned worksite.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience using CAD to view, measure, and cut sections, including a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • 3 years of experience designing and releasing parts for mass production, including hands-on experience launching vehicles into production.
  • 3 years of experience solving problems using engineering analysis and 8D methodologies.
  • 1 year of experience designing parts/systems using Failure Mode Avoidance tools (Boundary Diagram, P-Diagram, DFMEA, SCCAF, and DVP&R).
  • 1 year of experience optimizing part design for cost and weight, utilizing benchmarking and CAE tools.
  • 1 year of experience designing sheet metal parts that are feasible for stamping, joining, and hemming.
  • 1 year of experience packaging components within a constrained environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead side door systems and architecture for vehicle development programs.
  • Interface component and manufacturing skill teams to develop side door systems that deliver attribute performance.
  • Lead the integration of side door components into Ford systems, while maintaining engineering responsibility for the side door structure.
  • Lead design and release phases of the side door systems and perform issue resolution when engineering problems arise.
  • Provide launch support involving new Ford architecture designs.
  • Lead the implementation of new architecture strategies and provide closed loop feedback to update side closures engineering standards and system requirements.
