About The Position

The MIG Gun Division (Bernard / Tregaskiss) of Miller Electric, an ITW Company, is seeking a motivated Product Design Engineer to join the Tregaskiss engineering team at our Windsor, Ontario facility. Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 1-2 years of engineering experience in product design, product development, manufacturing engineering.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software and engineering drawing creation.
  • Knowledge of product design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
  • Experience conducting engineering analysis, simulations, or validation activities.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and troubleshoot mechanical systems and assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience working with power tools, prototypes, testing equipment, and manufacturing environments.
  • Strong organizational, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a cross-functional team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FEA, thermal, or flow simulation software is considered an asset.
  • Welding knowledge or experience, particularly GMAW welding processes, is considered an asset.
  • Electrical and controls system knowledge is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Innovation. Engineer the Future. Bring New Ideas to Life: Design and develop next-generation welding solutions and enhance existing product lines. Leverage SolidWorks and strong engineering fundamentals to transform concepts into reality through 3D models, engineering drawings, prototypes, and creative design solutions.
  • Turn Engineering Insights into High-Performance Solutions: Validate and optimize product designs through calculations, simulations, testing, and real-world evaluation using advanced engineering tools and methodologies.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Excellence: Tackle product and process challenges, perform root cause analysis, and implement design improvements. Contribute to Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives.
  • Collaborate to Deliver Customer-Focused Solutions: Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, quality, suppliers, and customers) to bring projects to life and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Get Hands-On and Turn Ideas into Reality: Work directly with prototypes, equipment, tools, and manufacturing processes to validate designs and support product development activities.
