Product Design Engineer I

Mann+Hummel GmbHPortage, MI

About The Position

This role is responsible for the design and development of filtration systems. The Product Design Engineer I will conceptualize complex new product designs, changes, and concepts to meet internal and external product specifications, cost, and timing. This position involves working with cross-functional teams to evaluate product designs and specifications, determining feasibility while minimizing costs for development and manufacturing. Collaboration with operations to understand process capabilities and providing product design recommendations aligned with production strategies is key. The role also includes coordinating all computer-aided engineering (CAE) necessary to validate product designs analytically, analyzing results to optimize design for performance, robust manufacturing, and cost efficiency. Additionally, the engineer will complete CAD tasks as assigned by the Lead Product Engineer (LPE) and/or Manager – Design & Development, occasionally coordinating and reviewing engineering and CAD tasks with GBTS. Active participation and support in Kaizen/DLS workshops and annual objectives, as well as completing required tasks for each Gate per xSEP process, are also expected.
