About The Position

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. Responsible for overall management of technical content, objects and the database in which they are maintained. May assist in establishing objectives, plans, and timelines for the development of comprehensive technical documents such as procedure manuals, operational specifications, training manuals, presentations, articles and related technical publications.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive technical understanding of military or commercial systems and have knowledge of the engineering development process.
  • General understanding of configuration management concepts and principles.
  • Understanding of technical documentation development and management using S1000D International Specification and military specifications and standards.
  • Database administration experience may be substituted in lieu of technical documentation development and management.
  • Capacity to create and administer formalized training on proper usage of data management tools/software/applications on a department-level scale.
  • Capacity to provide mentorship to junior team members, both within and external to the configuration management team.
  • Ability to develop, acquire, interpret, and communicate technical data to an audience with a broad range of technical proficiency.
  • Ability to quickly understand new concepts and properly apply them in a continuously evolving environment.
  • Strong compartmentalization and general organization skills.
  • Ability to identify technical, non-technical, logistic, safety, and other issues and develop solutions to minimize and/or mitigate the risk.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately analyze processes, procedures, work instructions, and other documents; report findings while proposing viable courses of action to resolve.
  • Strong knowledge of computer operations and applications.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and reviews technical content XML and SGML structural requirements of database objects to ensure required specifications are met.
  • Builds and manages database workspaces for content development teams.
  • Creates, contributes, and optimizes change management processes and workflow.
  • Assists content development teams with proper tagging and presentation of technical information.
  • Creates database objects to include, but not limited to, data modules and illustrations.
  • Works with multiple technical content development teams to schedule the availability of desired database objects for updating and publishing of documentation.
  • Provides a forum for communication between development teams to ensure needs and status are identified and socialized.
  • Contributes to the development of S1000D-compliant Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals/Publications, Military specification/standards-compliant-S1000D PDF documents, and other internal documentation or deliverables.
