About The Position

We're seeking a Product Compliance Engineer to play a critical role in launching Wonder's next generation of food automation products. You will be the technical bridge between our engineering teams and regulatory bodies, ensuring our innovative products meet all UL and NSF safety and sanitation requirements. You will work directly with UL and NSF to certify new products while maintaining compliance for our existing Infinite Kitchens deployed across 30+ locations. We are looking for someone who is excited to hit the ground running and be a part of a growing team building new, innovative products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of experience working with UL or a similar NRTL to obtain or maintain product listings.
  • Experience performing testing to UL or similar NRTL standards, including the use of dataloggers, thermistors, and mechanical safety testing equipment.
  • Experience participating in the new product design process to flag potential compliance issues early and influence design decisions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a proven ability to manage multiple certification projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and BOMs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with regulatory bodies, testing labs, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Creative approach to resolving compliance challenges and finding practical solutions that balance safety requirements with engineering constraints.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site field evaluations, including up to 1 day per week to our contract manufacturer in Westborough.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with NSF standards, specifically NSF 2, 4, 7, 18, 51, 169, and/or 170.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end UL listing and NSF certification process for new food automation products, working within tight development timelines to bring innovative technology to market.
  • Translate UL and NSF standards into clear design requirements for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Software teams.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with UL, NSF, and other testing laboratories to facilitate compliance testing, manage field evaluations, and resolve technical questions throughout the certification process.
  • Identify and conduct required product testing—including heating tests, ground-bonding verification, mechanical safety assessments, and material compatibility validation—to ensure UL and NSF compliance.
  • As needed, suggest alternative NRTLs and work with stakeholders across the Wonder organization to determine which NRTLs are acceptable and required for our products.
  • Maintain accurate records of certifications and documentation, such as the UL critical components list, testing requirements and procedures, and NSF Food Zone materials.
  • Handle UL and NSF purchase orders, invoicing, and vendor relationships to ensure smooth certification processes.
  • Audit and maintain our production Bills of Materials (BOMs) for UL and NSF compliance.
  • Work closely with our contract manufacturers during Initial Production Inspections (IPIs) and periodic audits, taking action on any findings.
  • Assist the design team with researching alternate materials that conform to relevant NSF/UL standards, establishing vendor contacts with material suppliers as needed.
