About The Position

The Product Certification Coordinator will lead Steuben Foods’ certification program, including kosher, organic, and non-GMO certifications. This role involves working with customers to obtain labeled certifications, identifying and resolving compliance issues, and collaborating with internal teams and external agencies. The coordinator will also manage audit preparations, handle consumer complaints, assist with new customer surveys, provide export certificates, and review supplier documentation to ensure certification claims are accurate.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a relevant field (e.g., quality, food regulations) preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in project coordination, production, or quality assurance, preferably in the food industry.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and maintenance of healthy channels between different agents and groups.
  • High standard of organization.
  • Technical competence to use and learn Microsoft Excel, Logistical software (e.g., Protean), and Reporting/presentation software.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and set priorities daily.
  • Diligence with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Identification and application of resources.
  • Technical knowledge including regulations, ingredients, and formulas.
  • Capacity to evaluate data, identify trends, and channel learnings to drive improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Steuben Foods’ certification program (e.g., kosher, organic, non-GMO).
  • Work with customers to obtain labeled certifications.
  • Identify obstacles to certification and points of noncompliance, recommending alternatives and connecting with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Packaging Engineer to ensure synergy between package design, labeled certification, and actual formula.
  • Interface with certifying agency on filings and audits, including corrective measures.
  • Maintain organized, accessible files.
  • Prepare for organic certification annual inspection audits for multiple customers, lead audits, and manage Steuben's organic program.
  • Prepare for non-GMO and other certifications (Gluten-Free, Vegan, Whole Grains, Kosher, Halal, USDA-AMS, NSF for sport, etc.) annual inspection audits for multiple customers, lead audits, and manage Steuben's non-GMO program.
  • Handle consumer complaints for all customers, including Elmhurst Brand, performing investigations thoroughly and professionally.
  • Assist with new customer product start-up GMP and Food Safety surveys, leading these as more co-man customers are secured.
  • Provide certificates for customer exports by learning to secure these certificates online and interacting with regulatory bodies.
  • Review supplier technical and packaging documentation (label review) to ensure all certification claims are in order prior to printing new packaging, including for new and existing EM/GF branded products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
