About The Position

The Product Assurance Engineer plans, develops, and conducts tests on electronic components, products, and systems. The Product Test Engineer also acts as a product expert, assisting both design engineers and sales managers, as well as supporting customers with troubleshooting all product issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience with: Testing embedded C applications in Linux environments
  • Previous experience with: Project Management tools including JIRA, Confluence, and related products
  • Previous experience with: Writing and running system testing scripts/procedures
  • Previous experience with: Writing detailed test reports
  • Previous experience with: Automated testing tools using Bash or Python
  • Previous experience with: Defect/bug tracking systems and structured defect lifecycle management
  • Previous experience with: Testing Android, iOS, Windows and MacOS applications
  • Knowledge of: Schematic capture tools
  • Knowledge of: Software development tools
  • Knowledge of: Database principles
  • Knowledge of: Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Knowledge of: MS Office Suite, including MS Project and MS Visio
  • Understanding Disciplined Agile techniques including participation in sprints along with backlog refinement/grooming
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail

Responsibilities

  • Propose, develop, and execute test plans in conjunction with software developers targeting functional and exception-based analysis.
  • Use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products and systems for supporting current products.
  • Analyze and interpret test data for customer issues then prepare technical reports for use by engineering, manufacturing, and management personnel.
  • Determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted and the sequencing of test operations in supporting customer issues.
  • Confer with manufacturing and design engineering personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation.
  • Perform and coordinate electronic and mechanical engineering test activities concerned with the development and applications of consumer and industrial electronic devices.
  • Generate test units and reports as well as product support documentation to comply with design requirements and applicable regulations/standards.
  • Perform analysis of documented user requirements and direct or assist in the design of test plans to validate user requirements for complex software/hardware applications.
  • Review user application system requirements documentation: design, define, and document unit and application test plans; transform test plans into test executions.
  • Execute manual and automated integration test cases across hardware, firmware, and software layers, including stress, boundary, and negative test scenarios to validate system robustness.
  • Configure and set up test environments, test beds, and device-under-test (DUT) hardware; identify and document test dependencies, assumptions, and constraints.
  • Log, track, and triage defects using a bug tracking system with clear reproduction steps; verify and close defects upon resolution confirmation through re-test.
  • Escalate critical defects to appropriate engineering teams with supporting data and analyze defect trends to report on root cause patterns across test cycles.
  • Develop and maintain test scripts and automation frameworks using Python or similar languages, along with test data sets and log parsers to support automated result analysis.
  • Produce test summary reports detailing pass/fail rates, coverage metrics, and outstanding risks; maintain up-to-date test case repositories and traceability matrices linking tests to requirements.
  • Document test environment configurations and setup procedures.
  • Coordinate with firmware, hardware, and software engineers to resolve integration issues, and communicate test status and blockers clearly to project managers and technical leads.
  • Identify gaps in test coverage and propose enhancements to test strategies; evaluate and introduce new tools, methodologies, or frameworks to improve testing efficiency.
  • Support field teams and customer support with reproduction of reported system issues and contribute to lessons-learned processes following major releases or product incidents.
