Product Architect

C Mack Solutions LLC•Ashburn, VA
•$150,000 - $175,000•Hybrid

About The Position

C. Mack Solutions is seeking a Product Architect with strong full-stack development experience to join our team and support a complex program providing Agile development, operations, and maintenance for critical systems on a mission-critical Federal Government program. This is primarily a hands-on development role: you'll build and maintain full-stack features across the front end (React, TypeScript, JavaScript) and back end (Java/Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, AWS), while also taking on meaningful technical leadership within your product team — helping shape implementation approach, reviewing code, mentoring less experienced developers, and representing your team's work to stakeholders. This is a mid-to-senior individual-contributor role with room to grow into more leadership over time, not a full enterprise-architecture ownership position; day to day, most of your time will be spent writing and reviewing code.

Requirements

  • Must live within the DC, MD, VA area.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidate must have an Active CBP Public Trust clearance.
  • 7+ years of overall software development experience, with hands-on full-stack development as a developer, and some experience (or clear readiness to take on) technical/project leadership within a team
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
  • Hands-on, production experience with Java (Spring/Spring Boot), React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and PostgreSQL
  • Proficiency with browser technologies such as HTML, HTTP, and CSS, and a JavaScript framework such as Kendo UI
  • Strong working knowledge of design patterns, object-oriented programming (OOP), and other software design practices that produce modular, maintainable systems
  • Experience with RESTful APIs — designing, implementing, and integrating APIs securely and efficiently
  • Experience with relational databases (for example, PostgreSQL), data modeling, and data storage best practices
  • Experience with cloud platforms (for example, AWS) and a working understanding of distributed-system concepts such as scalability and fault tolerance
  • Familiarity with common architectural styles (client-server, microservices, event-driven, layered) and their trade-offs
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD tools such as Harness, Jenkins, or GitLab
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of common software security vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies (input validation, secure coding practices, encryption)
  • Professional experience working within cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams
  • Able to work a hybrid schedule with an on-site requirement of 1–2 days a week in Ashburn, VA

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with TypeScript at scale, Postgres Streams, WebRTC, geospatial software, or generative AI integration (for example, Gemini) — exposure to one or more of these is valuable given this program's application portfolio
  • Experience migrating legacy applications to a microservices architecture in the cloud
  • Prior experience as a technical lead for a product team, or clear interest in growing into that scope
  • Experience contributing to (not necessarily owning) enterprise architecture standards
  • Skills in analyzing and optimizing software performance (profiling, benchmarking, code optimization)
  • Experience with baseline management and version-control/merge best practices
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop practical solutions

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack features end to end — from React/TypeScript front-end components to Java/Spring Boot services and PostgreSQL data models
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, breaking stories into tasks, demos to the Product Owner, and retrospectives
  • Write clean, tested, secure, maintainable code, and help ensure your team's overall code quality through code reviews
  • Collaborate with the SecDevOps team to build, onboard, and maintain applications on cloud-based infrastructure (AWS)
  • Work with business analysts and the Product Owner to translate business requirements into concrete, well-scoped tasks for the team
  • Take on day-to-day technical leadership within your product team — reviewing pull requests, helping remove blockers, and providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced developers
  • Contribute to technical documentation for the features and services you build, including design notes and diagrams
  • Flag technical risks, quality concerns, or architectural questions that arise in your area of ownership to the broader technical leadership
  • Collaborate with Developers, Program Managers, Testers, UI/UX, and Production Support Engineers to deliver solutions iteratively
  • Occasionally represent your team's work in stakeholder demos and updates
  • Stay current with relevant industry trends and technologies

Benefits

  • medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • retirement savings plans
  • paid time off
  • other supplemental programs
