About The Position

NBC 7 is seeking a multi-platform News Producer to write, edit, create, and produce news content for broadcast and digital platforms based on newsroom needs. The role requires strong editorial judgment, adaptability, and the ability to deliver accurate, compelling content under deadline. The producer is responsible for the overall production and content of newscasts across platforms and shifts, and contributes to coverage across broadcast, web, streaming, and social platforms. This is an on-site position performed full-time at an NBCUniversal-designated worksite in San Diego.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience as a broadcast line producer.
Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or a related field.
At least 2 years of prior news editing experience.
Familiarity with Adobe Premiere and/or other editing programs.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to respond to breaking news, update coverage as stories evolve, and write intros and leads for online video content.
Experience working with online publishing tools or a content management system.
Demonstrated knowledge of AP style writing and guidelines.
Must be willing to work at the station in San Diego.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to work any 24x7 shift.
Must submit a sample of their own work for consideration.

Responsibilities

Produce the overall content and production of newscasts across platforms and shifts.
Write news scripts, teases, and headlines for broadcast, and edit video.
Execute live shots and communicate with anchors during live newscasts.
Respond to breaking news accurately and urgently, updating coverage as stories evolve.
Contribute to videos for OTT, FAST, and other platforms.
Collaborate with reporters on daily stories and deliver content across platforms.
Write text articles and create and publish videos, photos, and podcasts for the website.
Curate YouTube channels.
Manage video livestreams when necessary.
Stay informed about daily news events and knowledgeable about the San Diego news market.
Contribute story ideas and participate in daily coverage decisions and editorial meetings.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
