About The Position

As a Producer at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the Video Content team by serving as project lead for short, educational videos that correspond to our K-12 curriculum, designing sets and costumes, generating project deadlines, casting and directing actors, and sometimes acting. The Video Content team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by creating compelling educational audio and video content that enhances BJU Press materials.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in drama; working knowledge of dramatic terms and principles
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well with others in a creative environment
  • Self-motivated in developing creative ideas and meeting deadlines
  • Basic understanding of BJU Press educational philosophy
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must agree with and affirm the Bob Jones University creed, mission and core biblical doctrines.
  • Expected to maintain a conservative lifestyle and support the group’s positions on issues such as beverage alcohol and addictive substances, creation, marriage and human sexuality and the sanctity of life.
  • Must be an active member of a local Bible-believing church which holds orthodox theology.
  • Must be committed to providing students an excellent, worldclass education from a biblical worldview that prepares them for a lifetime of service for Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities

  • Guide teams through video brainstorming, plan submission, and production (project coordinator), collaborating with writers, designers, videographers, and other artists
  • Ensure all elements from team members come together in one cohesive vision/idea/approach that is appropriate for the audience and at an appropriate complexity level for given deadlines and workloads.
  • Flesh out Plan Documents for given projects (with team consensus) which include approaches that fulfill given briefs, designs, sample scripts, and deadlines appropriately spaced for each team member to allow for delivery by the hard deadline
  • Work in project management software (Smartsheet) to build out projects
  • Potentially design Set/Costumes
  • Shepherd projects through the process to meet given deadlines
  • Secure images/props and record accurate permissions/acknowledgments (thru Permissions dept.) for every segment
  • Coordinate with other designers (set and prop artists, makeup artist, composer)
  • Communicate with talent (actors) as primary liaison, set up recording times, keep accurate records (project management charts, release forms, etc.)
  • Fulfill acting roles as interest, workloads, casting fit, and opportunity align.
