About The Position

CBC News in southwestern Ontario is looking for an experienced and dynamic producer to help lead the creation of original and engaging visual journalism on our digital, social and broadcast platforms. In this role, you will collaborate with journalists in the Windsor, London, Kitchener-Waterloo and Hamilton newsrooms to ensure we are marshalling and deploying our video resources effectively. You will work with the teams to set the news agenda and to connect our audiences to the information they need to know, and the stories that affect their lives. You’re able to conceptualize a shoot, organize a live stream, be on the ground when needed, and help edit material so that our visual stories are distributed with urgency and across platforms. You are a strategic thinker who has a deep knowledge of digital, broadcast and social media strategies and trends, and you will put audience needs and audience growth at the centre of all your decision-making. You will have a strong desire to experiment with new forms of visual storytelling and distribution to help us engage more meaningfully with audiences. You will strive to broaden the range of perspectives and experiences reflected in our news content, especially those from people who have been traditionally underrepresented in the media. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are a strong planner and organizer, and are at ease with juggling multiple tasks and priorities at once. You care about the people you work with and have a recognized ability to coach and motivate others. You will ensure that all our work adheres to CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and that it upholds our core principles of accuracy, fairness, balance, impartiality and integrity. This role requires full-time, on site presence. The successful candidate can be based in either the CBC London, Kitchener-Waterloo or Hamilton office.
