About The Position

Reuters World News is seeking an ambitious and creative TEMPORARY Producer to help develop and produce new video and audio programming from Washington, D.C. This role is ideal for someone who understands Washington's influence across geopolitics, economics, technology, regulation, and financial markets, and can translate that into engaging, accessible journalism. The producer will develop and produce original video and audio programming focused on the intersection of Washington, business, technology, markets, and global affairs. They will identify and shape story ideas, work with Reuters correspondents, editors, and producers to book guests and develop segments, write scripts, and produce and edit video and audio content for various platforms. The role also involves conducting research, hosting segments when appropriate, collaborating with teams across multiple bureaus, and contributing ideas for new formats and audience growth. The position requires a strong understanding of Washington's political, regulatory, and policy landscape, excellent news judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Experience producing video, audio or digital journalism in a fast-paced news environment
  • Strong understanding of Washington's political, regulatory and policy landscape
  • Excellent news judgment and a demonstrated ability to identify stories that resonate beyond the daily political cycle
  • Understanding of how Washington shapes global geopolitics, business, technology, financial markets and international affairs
  • Strong writing, scripting and storytelling skills
  • Experience producing and editing video and/or audio content
  • Ability to work collaboratively across a global newsroom
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Experience producing interviews, explainers, documentaries or news magazine-style programming
  • On-camera or audio hosting experience
  • Experience developing new editorial products, shows or content franchises
  • Knowledge of U.S. government institutions, policymaking processes and regulatory agencies
  • Familiarity with audience trends across streaming, podcast and digital platforms

Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce original video and audio programming focused on the intersection of Washington, business, technology, markets and global affairs
  • Identify and shape story ideas that help audiences understand the impact of decisions made in Washington on people, companies and economies around the world
  • Work with Reuters correspondents, editors and producers to book guests, develop segments and build episodes
  • Write scripts, interview briefs and editorial materials that are accurate, engaging and audience-focused
  • Produce and edit video and audio content for streaming, podcast and digital platforms
  • Conduct research and help translate complex policy, regulatory and geopolitical developments into clear, compelling storytelling
  • Host segments or interviews when appropriate
  • Collaborate with teams across multiple bureaus and time zones to develop ambitious, distinctive journalism
  • Contribute ideas for new formats, franchises and audience-growth opportunities
