About The Position

Westborn Market, a third-generation owned and operated business with four locations across Metro Detroit, started in 1963 focusing on quality fruit and vegetables. The Produce Production Associate, working under general supervision, performs various duties within the produce department, primarily focusing on produce production. This role involves stocking and maintaining produce displays and assisting customers with their produce-related needs. This is a part-time position that requires working at least one weekend day.

Requirements

• Ability to write legibly and read with comprehension at a level where it applies to this position
• Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and managers

Responsibilities

• Performs production duties such as sorting, packaging, taping, lifting, and labelling
• Slices watermelon, cantaloupe, and other fruits as well as juices citrus to be packaged for produce sales floor
• Prepares and packages Westborn’s scratch made guacamole, Pico de Gallo, and avocado salsa by following specific measurements and recipes
• Utilizes food prep tools such as knives, slicers, scales, heat wraps, juice machine, etc.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area free of hazards and follows food safety best practices
• Rotates produce items so that the freshest product is available to customers
• Reports poor quality or questionable product to department manager
• Helps to set up and stock produce floor
• Assists customers with produce related questions as needed
• Maintains current knowledge of product
• Abides by Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy
