About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties related to the produce department with a focus on produce production. Assists in stocking and maintaining produce displays while assisting customers with produce related needs. This will be a part time position and will require at least one weekend day worked.

Requirements

• Ability to write legibly and read with comprehension at a level where it applies to this position
• Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and managers

Responsibilities

• Performs production duties such as sorting, packaging, taping, lifting, and labelling
• Slices watermelon, cantaloupe, and other fruits as well as juices citrus to be packaged for produce sales floor
• Prepares and packages Westborn’s scratch made guacamole, Pico de Gallo, and avocado salsa by following specific measurements and recipes
• Utilizes food prep tools such as knives, slicers, scales, heat wraps, juice machine, etc.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area free of hazards and follows food safety best practices
• Rotates produce items so that the freshest product is available to customers
• Reports poor quality or questionable product to department manager
• Helps to set up and stock produce floor
• Assists customers with produce related questions as needed
• Maintains current knowledge of product
• Abides by Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy
