About The Position

The Produce Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Produce Department to achieve sales, margin, quality, and customer service goals. This role ensures fresh, high‑quality product, strong merchandising execution, effective inventory control, and a trained, engaged team while maintaining food safety and operational standards.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling and merchandising standards
  • Proven leadership and team‑development skills
  • Ability to analyze sales, margin, shrink, and inventory results
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills
  • Effective communication and customer‑service abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior produce or grocery department management experience required
  • Knowledge of food safety and perishable inventory practices
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the Produce Department, including ordering, replenishment, and merchandising
  • Drive sales, margin, and shrink goals through effective planning and execution
  • Ensure proper rotation, freshness, quality, and presentation standards at all times
  • Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and develop department associates
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and safety programs
  • Execute promotional plans, seasonal sets, and pricing accuracy
  • Control inventory levels and reduce waste through proper handling and markdowns
  • Deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns promptly
  • Partner with store leadership to support overall store performance objectives
