About The Position
The Produce Manager is responsible for achieving desired gross profit and productivity levels within the produce department. This role involves projecting sales, product movement, and labor needs, as well as ordering and receiving product according to established guidelines. The Produce Manager will also establish daily work assignments and priorities for department personnel, manage all personnel-related issues including hiring and training, and ensure all required forms and reports are completed accurately. Additionally, the role requires stocking and straightening merchandise, pricing items correctly, rotating stock to ensure freshness, and performing basic housekeeping duties. The Produce Manager must operate all required tools and equipment safely and maintain appropriate temperatures in coolers and cases. This position requires the ability to lift and move items, work in temperature extremes, and stand or walk for extended periods.
Requirements
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in temperature extremes, (produce cooler maximum low temperature, 32 degrees).
- Standing and/or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions.
- Follows dress code.

- Follows established safety policies and procedures.
- Works well with others.
- Speak English fluently.
- Ability to legibly write or print
- Eyesight corrected to 20/20.
- Hearing corrected to normal range.

Responsibilities
- Achieves desired gross profit.
- Achieves desired level of productivity.
- Projects sales, product movement, labor needs.
- Orders product according to established guidelines.
- Receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines.
- Establishes daily work assignments and priorities for produce department personnel.
- Follows established guidelines in all personnel issues, interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline, discharge, etc.
- Follows established guidelines for completion of all required forms, records, reports and verify receipts.
- Prepares weekly work schedules according to established guidelines.
- Stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies.
- Using pricing/label gun, marks each item with the correct selling price.
- Rotates merchandise according to anticipated shelf life/product expiration dates.
- Performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment, (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.).
- Operates all required tools and equipment in a safe manner except when restricted due to age.
- Ensure coolers and cases maintain appropriate temperatures.
- Maintains a neat and clean work area.
- Performs all essential job functions at an acceptable level of speed and accuracy.
