About The Position

Summerhill Market is a Toronto boutique grocer known for scratch-made prepared foods, freshly baked treats, and on-trend ingredients. They are looking for an experienced, hands-on Produce Manager to lead one of the most vibrant and fast-moving departments in their stores. This role is for someone who thrives in a high-volume retail environment, loves mentoring teams, and has an eye for freshness, quality, and merchandising.

Requirements

Previous Produce Department leadership experience in grocery or specialty retail
Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling, merchandising, and inventory management
A natural leader with excellent communication and team-building skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Flexible availability including weekends and holidays as required
Passion for food, retail, and creating an exceptional customer experience

Responsibilities

Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the Produce Department
Drive exceptional product quality, freshness, rotation, and presentation standards
Manage inventory, ordering, shrink, and department profitability
Coach, train, and develop team members to deliver excellent customer service
Create visually impactful displays that inspire customers and maximize sales
Ensure food safety, sanitation, and health & safety standards are consistently upheld
Support scheduling, productivity, and labour management within the department
Jump in wherever needed — this is a hands-on leadership role
