Position Purpose The Produce Manager is responsible for directing all aspects of the Produce Department, including sales, merchandising, inventory management, food safety, profitability, customer service, and associate development. This position ensures the department operates efficiently while delivering high-quality fresh products and an exceptional shopping experience. The Produce Manager leads department associates to achieve operational excellence and financial performance goals while maintaining company standards for freshness, presentation, and service.

Requirements

  • Directing all aspects of the Produce Department, including sales, merchandising, inventory management, food safety, profitability, customer service, and associate development.
  • Ensuring the department operates efficiently while delivering high-quality fresh products and an exceptional shopping experience.
  • Leading department associates to achieve operational excellence and financial performance goals while maintaining company standards for freshness, presentation, and service.
  • Overseeing daily operations of the Produce Department.
  • Maintaining department standards for product quality, freshness, cleanliness, and presentation.
  • Monitoring department conditions and maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
  • Executing seasonal merchandising plans, promotional programs, and display standards.
  • Coordinating department activities to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring department readiness during peak sales periods and special events.
  • Managing ordering, receiving, inventory levels, and product replenishment.
  • Maintaining appropriate inventory levels while minimizing shrink and waste.
  • Ensuring products are properly rotated using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) procedures.
  • Monitoring sales trends and adjusting product assortment and displays accordingly.
  • Verifying pricing accuracy and promotional compliance throughout the department.
  • Ensuring attractive and impactful displays that drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Achieving department sales, gross margin, and profitability goals.
  • Analyzing sales reports and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Developing and implementing action plans to increase sales and improve operational performance.
  • Managing labor expenses through effective scheduling and productivity management.
  • Controlling shrink through proper inventory practices, quality standards, and associate training.
  • Promoting a customer-first culture within the department.
  • Ensuring customers receive friendly, knowledgeable, and timely service.
  • Assisting customers with product selection, preparation questions, and special requests.
  • Resolving customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Fostering positive customer relationships that increase loyalty and repeat business.
  • Recruiting, training, coaching, and developing department associates.

  • Identifying and addressing safety hazards promptly.
  • Supporting loss prevention initiatives to reduce shrink and product loss.
