About The Position

The Produce Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the Produce Department to ensure high levels of freshness, quality, merchandising, customer service, and financial performance. This role leads department associates, manages inventory and shrink, and ensures compliance with all food safety and company standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous produce or retail grocery experience required
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, and use of hands
  • Work in refrigerated and temperature-controlled environments

  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of produce items, seasonality, and merchandising best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Produce Department operations, including ordering, receiving, rotation, trimming, and merchandising
  • Ensure freshness, quality, and proper handling of fruits and vegetables
  • Create and maintain attractive, full, and seasonally appropriate displays
  • Lead, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate produce associates
  • Monitor inventory levels, sales trends, labor, shrink, and gross margin
  • Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution
  • Uphold excellent customer service standards, addressing questions and special requests
  • Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and sanitation
  • Enforce safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment
  • Partner with store leadership to achieve operational and financial objectives
  • Complete required inventory counts, production logs, and operational reports
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations
  • Enforce proper temperature control, handling, rotation, and sanitation practices
  • Maintain clean work areas, back rooms, coolers, and display cases
  • Identify and correct food safety or quality issues promptly
