About The Position

PURPOSE: To manage the flow of operations within the produce department of a Bloomingfoods retail location. To meet the goals and objectives set by the Store Manager while making each customers’ experience exceptional.

Responsibilities

  • Provide internal and external customers with excellent service at all times.
  • Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.
  • Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service in all areas according to established customer service vision and standards.
  • Use appropriate language, behavior, appearance, and overall conduct with or in the presence of customers, vendors, and store personnel according to BCS and store policies.
  • Develop schedules to ensure alignment with labor and productivity goals.
  • Produce strong work teams and help facilitate employee development.
  • Hire qualified applicants following established procedures.
  • Ensure comprehensive, on-the-job training and development programs.
  • Ensure staff understands key strategies for achieving key financial goals.
  • Ensure that all staff is aware of notices and policy changes.
  • Document and perform timely performance evaluations.
  • Take corrective disciplinary action according to established procedure.
  • Meet objectives for department sales, margin, turns, and labor budgets.
  • Monitor key financial goals, including sales, margin, turns, and labor.
  • Participate in the development of annual operating, capital and cash budgets for department/store.
  • Review financial performance reports, monitor deviations from budget, and take corrective action as necessary following established procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient invoice processing within 24 hours of delivery receipt.
  • Review and evaluate movement report.
  • Order according to location purchasing and contract guidelines and ensure appropriate inventory levels.
  • Build mutually beneficial, business relationships with local and regional producers to ensure a strong presence of local product offerings.
  • Participate in centralized buying opportunities.
  • Ensure all retail displays are attractive and product is abundant and front & faced.
  • With POS Lead, ensure accurate signage, pricing, and labeling.
  • Monitor rotation practices and waste to ensure effective buying procedures.
  • Oversee regular department inventories.
  • Perform regular facility assessments to ensure all areas are maintained in sanitary, orderly condition meeting OSHA, health department, Organic, HAACP, COOL and/or other relevant department standards.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, rotation, and labeling procedures.
  • Ensure adequate amount of tools and production supplies.
  • Maintain equipment in clean, safe, working order. Research and recommend major equipment repair or replacement.
  • Coordinate department productivity according to store needs.
  • Coordinate systems, staffing, and record keeping for receiving deliveries.
  • Attend trade shows as requested on behalf of Bloomingfoods.
  • Evaluate current suppliers and investigate new suppliers.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities when available and appropriate.
  • Participate in co-op events.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Lead regular staff meetings.
  • Provide effective communication to ensure productive, knowledgeable work teams.
  • Maintain open communication links with customers to address inquiries and feedback.
  • Offer constructive and fair coaching and feedback to all staff.
  • Provide regular opportunities to receive feedback from all staff.
  • Provide product and producer information for co-op publications.
  • Participate in location huddles, weekly.
  • Attend multi-location department manager workgroup meetings, weekly.
  • Ensure prompt, friendly, courteous customer service. Handle customer questions and complaints that can't be handled by other staff.
  • Oversee staff on shift in cleaning and maintenance procedures to keep store in clean, orderly condition.
  • Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures. Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns during shift as needed.
  • Carry out established opening and closing procedures.
  • Uphold security procedures and support staff in dealing with shoplifters, disorderly customers, and emergencies.
  • Ensure break schedule is followed during shift.
