The Produce Manager is responsible for providing direct leadership to the produce department crew members. This includes planning and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, coaching, administering discipline, providing training and development, rewarding crew members, and resolving problems. The manager actively participates in training and mentoring crew members to enthusiastically demonstrate, educate, and sell in-store produce products. They manage the training process for new crew members, including onboarding and department-specific training, and ensure the completion and submission of necessary documentation. Daily team huddles are conducted to communicate sales goals and reinforce guest service expectations. The role involves ordering ingredients, products, and supplies, checking in orders, and organizing storage areas. Preparing fresh produce for sale, including receiving, washing, cutting, and stocking, is a key responsibility. The manager writes daily plans and weekly work schedules, ensures the execution of in-store produce programs and promotions, and controls inventory following FIFO principles to achieve consistent margins. They are responsible for merchandise rotation, maintaining displays, and ensuring products meet freshness standards. Coordination of POS maintenance, accurate record-keeping for damaged/spoiled merchandise, and compliance with food and workplace safety regulations are also critical. The position requires acquiring product knowledge across departments to assist guests and staying updated on weekly specials and promotions to create a delightful guest experience. A team-oriented work environment that inspires collaboration and cooperation is essential. The store operates seven days a week, requiring potential weekend, holiday, and shift work.
